Mesotherapy (Lipodissolve)

Mesotherapy has been used in Europe since 1952.  It is the injection of a mixture of FDA approved medications, vitamins, enzymes and minerals into the subcutaneous tissue (under the skin) to decrease fat deposits.  Mesotherapy melts the fat and shrinks the fat cells.  Mesotherapy can also treat cellulite by destroying the connective tissue that causes dimpling effect and dissolves fat cells that are trapped.  Mesotherapy is ideal to treat stubborn fat deposits that don’t’ respond to diet and exercise.  The most common areas treated are; chin, jaw line, neck, love handles, hips, and arms.  One of the most successful areas treated is the thighs to get rid of cellulite. A topical anesthetic is used.  A very tinny needle (the size of an eyelash) is used to inject the medication.  There is only minimal discomfort associated.  There is no downtime. Localized minor bruising is about the only side effect.  It is best to stop aspirin or any blood thinners before the treatments.  The results depend on the area being treated and the size of the fat deposit.  Some patients see results after one or two treatments, while others require five to six treatments. The results are measured in inches and monitored also by before and after photos.  Results are permanent as long as the patients stay on a healthy diet and exercise.  Many patients can lose as much as two dress sizes after a series of treatments. Usually 4-6 treatments are required depending on the individual patient.
